The Academy is a specialist hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy educator. After achieving the first Government Accreditation for Clinical Hypnotherapy in the Australia’s Vocational Education Training Sector we have now focussed on Health Practitioner education and Advanced Techniques for Health Practitioners with hypnosis training and existing Clinical Hypnotherapists. This training is internet-based (study where and when you wish) with electronic and in-house support.

Dr Cowen also provides ongoing Supervision and Mentoring in both individual and group formats. He is unique in having achieved his PhD in Clinical Hypnotherapy Education from the School of Medicine, University of Western Sydney. With over 40 years as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, 30 years as an educator and extensive professional publications he is not only a leader in the profession but arguably one of the most experienced clinical hypnotherapists and clinical hypnotherapy educators internationally.

Training
You can undertake initial training or advanced skills with our flexible online delivery with Certificate of Completion. Training is divided into:

Mini Units: Low Cost, Short Duration and Introductory Knowledge.

Condensed Units: Reduced Costs, Medium Duration and Foundational Knowledge,

Full units: Reasonable Cost, Longer Duration and In-depth Knowledge.

Course: Practitioner Certificate in Hypnosis

Webinars: Low Cost, Short duration recordings on a variety of topics

Add Hypnosis to existing health practitioner skills
If you’re an existing health professional (and rural and remote ) who wants to learn hypnosis or learn hypnotherapy we have specialised training for you. The Academy’s training is acknowledged by professional associations such as the Royal Australian Society of General Practitioners, Counsellors and Psychotherapists Association (NSW), and the Australian Society of Social Workers as a provider of continuing education for their members.

The Academy offers annual scholarships as part of our community service.  The Scholarship details and winners are listed next to each scholarship.
Scholarships are offered to the organisations below. The criteria for the scholarships requires giving back to the community/profession. Scholarships are reviewed, validated and shortlisted by the assciation/organisation then passed to the Academy for the final decision. Our team of reviewers includes:

Western Sydney University - Emeritus Professor Jim McKnight Memorial Prize
Professor Jim McKnight was an exceptional person. He was a Professor of Psychology, a qualified washing machine mechanic, builder, electrician, jewellery maker, bricklayer and author and co-author of 10 books. His wide and varied interests coupled with his passion for helping others made him the person that everyone so admired. His generosity helped clinical hypnotherapy achieve the accreditations and professional acknowledgements it now enjoys.
Scholarship Criteria
This is an annual prize awarded by the Academy for a student who demonstrates outstanding creativity and innovation.

Associations that receive scholarships from the Academy
The Associations that receive scholarships are listed below. For more information regarding the annual application date please contact your association. The scholarship criteria for the associations are:

• Be in practice a minimum 15 hours per week;
• Be an member of the Professional Association;
• Be able to start within 3 months and complete the course within 3 months;
• Have 2-3 year’s experience in practice;		 • Be able to pay for the text books and costs of completing the course;
• Have the computer skills and a computer capable of online study;
• Demonstrate you are giving back to the profession and/or community; and
• Describe how winning this scholarship will improve your practice
 

Australian Association of Social Workers
The Australian Association of Social Workers is the professional representative body of social workers in Australia, with more than 10,000 members. It was formed as a national association in 1946 and has since supported its members through the profession's many developments and changes.

The Academy has sponsored a scholarship with the Australian Association of Social Workers. The Scholarship Application form can be downloaded from here.

Introduction to Hypnosis - A free course

This is a free course for those interested in hypnosis and clinical hypnotherapy. It is designed to teach you very basic techniques and the associated safeguards.

The course will teach pre-hypnotic techniques, how to induce hypnosis, give basic suggestions, how to awaken the client and the safeguards you need to follow.

To gain access to the course you need to:

1.      Go to our online educational platform called Moodle;

2.      Create a new account (or log in if you have an account);

3.      Self enrol into this course.
